Whew … seriously, setting up a new blog after almost a year?

So! Up this morning and out for breakfast at the local Wildflower Bakery. We have always enjoyed the food there – mostly soups, salads and sandwiches, but today will be our first breakfast. R ordered his “usual” – a side of ham and a side of home fries. I, however, went completely off the reservation and ordered their spicy chorizo frittata. It was FABULOUS! It came with a side of home fries as well as a slice of their wonderful toasted bread. Inside the frittata, besides the chorizo, were scallions, sundried tomatoes, onions and avocado. Wow!
Waddled out of the restaurant, and can guarantee you we willNOTneed to have any lunch at all! In fact, that this moment, I’m contemplating dinner!! LOL
The drive through the desert was stunning, as always, but this time, everything on the Navajo reservation was open. We had gassed up in Flag, so had no real need to stop, but it was nice to see people going about their business as usual, as opposed to the last time we came through these parts a couple of months ago, when it was a ghost town!
Drove through Monument Valley, and it was, of course, stunningly beautiful! We did stop at Gouldings Gift Shop and Lodgeto look around, and they have some wonderful “villas” – looked like tiny houses to me, that we are thinking about returning to! From there it wasn’t far to Bluff, and we arrived a few minutes before 3 pm – which was great, as 3 pm is their check-in time! Great B&B!!
Our hostess, Susan, took us through the house. They have three rooms, two sharing a bathroom and one with its own … fortunately, that’s ours! Lugged most of the luggage inside, and got situated. We’ll be here for two nights. First of all, it’s a lovely old log cabin with great front porch and wonderful views! Nicely air conditioned, as it’s needed during the day, but screens on the window so we can open up tonight! Yeah!! Tonight it will be us and one other couple, which is fine.
Robert set up the computer on the dining room table (only used at breakfast time!) and worked on the photos. Not sure what I did, but it must have been something! Finally, about 5 we headed out for dinner, both being thoroughly hungry by then! There appears to be three restaurants open in town: a steakhouse which we’re saving for tomorrow, a café within walking distance, and Comb Diner, which apparently has great fish and chips! We headed to Comb and they were doing take-out only, but they did have four tables set up outside. Two were in the shade, and as the only folks there, we grabbed one of them. We had both ordered the fish and chips, and seriously, that fish and those chips came right out of the fryer. It was FABULOUS. They make their own very interesting tartar sauce and coleslaw – as you all know, I am anything but a fish fan, but these were the best fish and chips I’ve had since our last trip to Sydney, Australia! (Of course, there is always the possibility that it’s the ONLY fish and chips I’ve had since then…). At any rate, finished up and got back to Canyon Wren in about an hour.
I’ve spent the most frustrating time trying to figure out how to create a new blog again on Blogspot. Anyone who has ever messed with Blogspot knows how frustrating it can be! And it was! I’m so surprised that at least I’ve figured out how to make a new one!!!! Now I need to find the email gadget and change font and color, and then it’ll be ready to launch … which is why I’m now sending it to you after I’ve copied it from the posting…if that doesn’t make any sense, that’s fine … neither does Blogspot!!!
Now finishing up and posting for the second day – which means R will have to get the pictures ready … so, fingers crossed, there’ll be more news from us today!
Lots of love,
m
